This edition of the Julian Nicholas Quartet features 4 x 4 musical friendships going back some 40 years! All four musicians have featured at the highest end of the UK jazz scene over this time with artists such as Claire Martin OBE, Jim Mullen, Courtney Pine CBE, Carleen Anderson and Joe Lovano.
Saxophonist, composer and educator Julian Nicholas has been a member of legendary bands such as ‘Loose Tubes’ and ‘Brotherhood Of Breath’. A producer, B.A.F.T.A. nominated composer, prominent educator and festival curator, Julian’s multifaceted musical world is ever-expanding.
Julian is no stranger to followers of top-flight U.K. jazz - Jazzwise
As an in-demand player, he has appeared consistently at national venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The 606, The Vortex, Dean St. Jazz Club at Pizza Express, The Spin in Oxford, and Jazz Festivals London, Brighton, Brecon, Cheltenham, Herts and Gateshead. His band supported Nina Simone two years running at The Dome for the Brighton Festival, winning its festival award both years.
