Fundraising Manager

Fundraising Manager (Full-time)

The Fundraising Manager at Lauderdale House is an exciting new role, designed to build on the foundation of previous fundraising initiatives in order to develop a consistent income stream and broaden our income base, primarily from trusts, foundations, individual giving and legacies. The creation of this role is the next strategic step in the development of the organisation itself, ensuring that Lauderdale House can continue to make a real difference locally and extend our charitable impact.

Lauderdale House is a fascinating Grade II* historic house, brought to life as an arts and education centre with activities taking place over 360 days a year. A core part of the House is our education programmes in secondary schools, taking creative practitioners into the classroom to augment the curriculum and explore human rights, the environment and Tudor culture. Alongside this runs a free programme, including weekly sessions at the local youth club, lunchtime concerts and family activities. The Fundraising Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the House's education and outreach programme.

Our ideal candidate will have an interest in arts, heritage and education as well as an understanding and appreciation of the impact and importance that arts centres like Lauderdale House have for individuals and, more broadly, for our local communities. They will be self-motivated with a fundraising track record and excited at the opportunity to, working closely with the Director, embed a culture of fundraising throughout the organisation.

Operations Manager

Operations Manager (Full-time)

The Operations Manager at Lauderdale House is vital to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of our wide-ranging programme of events, arts, heritage and education and, at the same time, with the support of the Events and Operations teams take responsibility for the maintenance, upkeep and statutory compliance of this Grade II* listed building. 

Our ideal candidate has an interest in arts, heritage and education, excellent organisational and communication skills, is committed to delivering top customer service, arts and educational events and enjoys working with a diverse range of people. This is a great opportunity to be at the heart of a dynamic organisation ensuring that the vital logistics of planning and building maintenance enable us to deliver a high quality, diverse and busy programme.

This role manages multiple members of the staff team, along with the freelance stewarding team. Relevant experience of working in a venue and delivering events to a high standard along, line managing staff, project management skills and understanding of best practices for health & safety are required. This role will involve regular weekend working and requires you to be available to work any day over the 7-day period, in line with business needs.

Operations & Facilities Officer

Operations & Facilities Officer (Full-time)

The Operations & Facilities Officer plays a key role in the day-to-day running of Lauderdale House, combining hands-on event delivery with responsibility for the care and smooth operation of our historic building. Working across a varied programme of arts, heritage and community activities, you will help ensure the House is presented to an exceptionally high standard, while supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of our busy multi-purpose venue.

This is a new role, created as part of an organisational restructure. We're looking for someone who is practical, well organised, highly responsible and enjoys working in a lively, ever-changing environment. You'll be confident working independently, solving problems and interacting with a wide range of people, with a genuine interest in arts, heritage and community spaces.

You'll have experience managing the operational needs of a public or multi-purpose building, including maintenance, compliance, health and safety, and other statutory and regulatory requirements. Regular weekend working is required, and you will need to be available to work across any day of a seven-day week in line with business needs.

Operations & Events Assistant

Operations & Events Assistant (Full-time)

The Operations & Events Assistant at Lauderdale House is vital to supporting our wide-ranging House activities, from arts and education programmes to hire events such as weddings, parties, memorials and more. This unique role works with both our Operations Manager and Venue Hire & Events Manager to ensure excellent front-facing customer care and communication, promotion and sale of hire packages, planning and hands-on delivery of high-quality events and overall excellent presentation of a constantly changing building.

Our ideal candidate has an interest in arts, heritage and education, excellent organisational and communications skills, is looking for a customer facing role and enjoys working with a diverse range of people. This is a great opportunity understand the day-to-day operations of a busy arts & education centre in a heritage building.

However, our private hire programme is our primary source of income and key to supporting our arts and education programme. Why Volunteer?

As a charity, Lauderdale House relies on the help of our generous supporters, both donors and volunteers. We have a small core team of permanent staff members, who are supported in their work by an active group of dedicated volunteers.

Volunteers are at the heart of the organisation and are fundamental to what we achieve. They include people of all ages, some looking to acquire new skills and experience, others who simply enjoy the opportunity to give something back to the community in a friendly and creative atmosphere. We look for volunteers who are happy to be involved and have a hands-on approach. Opportunities include stewarding in the gallery and on reception, supporting the education programme, developing content for heritage interpretation, historical research, supporting our marketing, answering enquiries, assisting with fundraising and helping with general administration.

Our existing volunteers include people of all ages from a variety of backgrounds and experience.  Some people are looking to gain that extra edge on their CV and acquire new skills and experience; others simply enjoy the opportunity to give something back to the community in a friendly and creative atmosphere. There many ways you can contribute to Lauderdale House and we like to agree specific programmes of work for every individual to ensure that everyone finds what they are looking for and they can make an impact on what we do.

We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles:

Volunteer Receptionist and Gallery Steward 
Volunteers in this role are often the first point of contact for visitors to the house, and bring a warm and welcoming atmosphere to Lauderdale. The role includes manning the gallery, which has an array of exhibitions which alter monthly, answering visitors’ questions, taking calls for the office, completing general administration tasks and generally being a friendly face for our visitors.

Fundraising Assistant
The fundraising assistant is essential for the survival of Lauderdale House, as being a charitable organisation, we rely on the generosity of others to support us in the work we do for the community and as an arts house. This position includes tasks such as contacting existing donors, and identifying new ones, updating donor data information, researching trusts, as well as working with the Director to plan regular communication plan for donors. 

Sunday Fun-Day Volunteer
Are you interested in creative volunteering opportunities? Then why not support Lauderdale’s monthly family workshops! Sunday Fun-Days are craft sessions for children aged 4-10 and are aimed at getting them engaged in the House’s history. More information can be found here. Your role will be to support the artist running the session. This could be helping make up resources, explaining the craft to families, carrying out evaluations, taking photos and sitting on reception. If you are interested please email our Education & Outreach Manager, Liv Clements
