Charlie working with young people at LauderdaleHouse

Part of Camden Summer University 2025, we are hosting two free craft workshops for young people aged 14-19: ‘Myths & Legends Clay Project’ and ‘Mosaic Tile Design.'

Camden Summer University provides free courses for young people who study or live in Camden across the summer holidays. At Lauderdale House, we have run fashion design and photography workshops in the past, which offer the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and make beautiful creations. For Summer 2025 we are running two workshops, giving young people the choice between:

‘Myths & Legends Clay Project’
Working with classicist and potter Charlie, you’ll spend three days learning how to create ancient pottery inspired by Roman myths and legends. You’ll learn how to create a Roman ‘Ware’ (pot) as well as lots of mythological creatures from the time. All clay and sculpting tools will be provided. Please note we will not be doing wheel work.

‘Mosaic Tile Design’
Run by artist Alex, you learn how to cut, style and place tiles to create a beautiful mosaic. Alex uses found objects collected from mudlarking trips along the banks of the Thames as tiles for the mosaics, as these are a constant reminder of the history that surrounds us that we should celebrate. All materials and tools will be provided.

The sessions run from 10.30am to 3pm with an hour for lunch, but please note that lunch is not provided.
