The Live Literature Company

The Live Literature Company presents the premiere of Nell Gwynn and the Puritan Poet by Roger Elliott, with period music from Saraband. A staged play reading with music; set and performed in Lauderdale House, Highgate.

This is another exciting site-specific performance by The Live Literature Company. When Nell Gwynn, resident in Lauderdale House, invites her next-door neighbour over, the poet and politician Andrew Marvell, arch critic of King Charles' increasingly extravagant and licentious rule, how will they relate? And what will happen when Marvell's enemy, the brutal Duke of Lauderdale, unexpectedly returns from slaughtering rebels in Scotland?
