John Etheridge's Blue Spirits are coming back to light up our Tea Lawn this summer, once again accompanied by the dulcet tones of jazz legend Vimala Rowe.

Led by internationally renowned Guitar legend John Etheridge, Blue Spirits is completed by Pete Whittaker (Organ) and George Double (Drums).

Drawing on a vast reservoir of musical experience spanning over 50 years, Etheridge distils the bluesier side of his musical world in a repertoire that has intensity and emotion as its main quality, with subtlety, fluidity and interaction as its centre. Pete Whittaker is a superb accompanist, and soloist and drummer George Double is celebrated for his drive and invention.

The Trio will be joined by special guest vocalist Vimala Rowe, known for her soulful and passionate delivery. Vimala Rowe is renowned for not only her powerful voice but also her ability to transcend traditional genres; in particular, she masterfully blends Hindustani classical influences with her soulful and effortlessly swinging jazz. Expect an edgy and engaging repertoire with a forceful drive.

Weather

The performance will continue regardless of the weather unless unsafe. Please plan for all eventualities and remember to bring a waterproof layer and a warm jumper. We prefer waterproofs to umbrellas because umbrellas can obstruct views. Don’t forget that if you are on a blanket the ground may be wet so make sure you have a blanket with a waterproof side or bring aplastic sheet. There are no refunds for shows cancelled due to the weather.

Food and Drink

The café/bar will be open selling light snacks and drinks before the performance starts and during the interval.
You are also welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy on the Tea Lawn as you watch the performance.
