We’re rounding off this year’s Jazz in the House season with a very special festive finale, as Ian Shaw returns to Lauderdale House for his Early Xmas Caper.
Jazz singer and entertainer Ian Shaw returns to Lauderdale House for his inimitable one-man powerhouse show to explore the joys, tears and sheer horror of the festive season.
Join this mischievous artist for a cracker of a show, after yet another right old figgy pud of a year. Expect seasonal songs and razor-sharp comedy.
Ian has been a staple on the British jazz scene for over three decades. He tours constantly in this country and internationally, with several of his recorded output being on US labels. Whether solo at the piano, with his trio or as the special guest with orchestras, he remains the consummate entertainer, and his recordings and live performances have been recognised by numerous awards. Ian can be heard weekly on the Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show on Jazz FM, which he has presented for over ten years.

For this special end-of-season concert, Ian will also be joined by old friends Deirdre Cartwright on guitar and Alison Rayner on bass for a couple of special numbers.
The evening will also celebrate the much-missed Brian Blain, who programmed Jazz in the House at Lauderdale House for 25 years. A lifelong jazz enthusiast, writer, reviewer and promoter, Brian was a tireless champion of the music, recognised with the Services to Jazz Award at the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. The concert falls close to what would have been Brian’s 97th birthday on 5 December, making this reunion of old friends a particularly fitting way to celebrate his legacy and bring this year’s Jazz in the House season to a close.
