Overview

Gallery

This exhibition is a collaboration with a common theme running through it; one of the natural surroundings that we live in and the energy within that. These two artists depict the flora and fauna of nature, using direct responses and representations to present their way of seeing, in order that the viewer has a window into their world and experiences.

Fiona Deighton studied Fine Art, always with an interest in the natural world and her response to it. After graduating, her art practice centred itself in found objects, marrying them together in interesting ways. However, Fiona’s love of plants and birds that have played a big part in her life, have been the focus of her art practice for the last 20 years through mediums such as collage and watercolours.

Sonja Scherndl enjoys the fluidity of abstract painting in a variety of mediums such as acrylics, watercolour, gouache and alcohol inks. Different styles and themes run through her artwork, often creating the very similar colour combinations found in the natural world. She draws her inspiration from within and no two paintings are alike.

Here are two very different artists yet they complement each other. One thing they have in common is their passion for Human Rights. The sale of their artworks will go directly towards a billboard campaign for Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that “Everyone has a right to adequate food, housing, health care and social security”. This campaign is run by Share The World’s Resources, a London based non for profit organisation.
