Schubertiade
Overview
Performers
Programme

Schubert is back! The members of Concert Party invite you to their annual Schubertiade in celebration of the life and music of Franz Schubert. In the spirit of a winter’s gathering of friends around the piano, they are lovingly re-creating the original 19th century Schubertiade in the beautiful and intimate setting of Lauderdale House.

As in Schubert’s day, Concert Party’s group of professionals and amateurs will perform a varied programme of songs, chamber music, and piano works interspersed with poetry and prose.

In his short life, Schubert wrote over six hundred songs or lieder and revolutionised the art of song writing with his unique ability to transform poetry into music. In turn, Schubert’s inimitable gift for song is imbued in all his musical compositions. Their programme will include “The Arpeggione Sonata”, Sonatina in D for violin and piano, the soulful second movement of Schubert’s string quintet, “Notre Amitié est Invariable” for piano duet, and a selection of delightful lieder and piano solos.
