Enjoy the poetry of A.E. Housman and the music it inspired like never before at this afternoon recital featuring Rupert Pardoe, Andrew Blankfield and Sheila Armstrong.

A. E. Housman’s evocative collection of poems A Shropshire Lad has retained its popularity since its publication in 1896 and has been an inspiration to generations of composers.

In this hour-long recital, baritone Rupert Pardoe and pianist Andrew Blankfield will perform settings by George Butterworth, Arthur Somervell, John Ireland and Samuel Barber, with a selection of other poems from the set read by renowned soprano Sheila Armstrong.

Profits from this concert will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
