Serenata presents an evening of song in memory of their friend and mentor, Brian Benedict, who passed away at the end of 2020. Brian formed Serenata with an intention to focus on performances taken from the Art Song repertoire and he was very keen to ensure this continued in his absence.
This programme features not only some of his favourite compositions by composers he revered but also items of special significance to our performers of working with Brian.
The programme features songs and ensembles in German, French and English by Strauss, Grieg, Brahms, Poulenc, Debussy, etc and includes Brahms’ Sehnsucht and Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, two of Brian’s favourite works. We look forward to paying tribute to Brian’s memory and celebrating his legacy with you all.
COVID-19 Precautions
Our advice and measures will change in accordance with the most recent government guidance. Currently we are:
• Keeping a record of contact details for lead bookers.
• Conducting extra regular cleaning.
• Welcoming audience members with hand sanitiser.
• Designating toilets for your event.
• Keeping windows open for good ventilation.
• Encouraging audience members and staff to wear masks, unless exempt or when eating/drinking.
• Recommending taking a lateral flow test for everyone attending.
