Explore the vibrant world of arts and crafts at the Nowruz Bazaar, where creativity meets culture in a celebration of the Persian New Year.

The Nowruz Bazaar is a feast for the senses, offering a unique opportunity to discover and appreciate the rich artistic heritage associated with this joyous festival. Don't miss the chance to bring a piece of Nowruz's artistic spirit into your home, as skilled artisans showcase their talents and share the essence of this ancient tradition.

The Bazaar will take place across the ground floor of Lauderdale House; at the same time, the Long Gallery will host a series of talks upstairs.

Baluch Arts and Crafts

Come and see the needlework art and jewellery made by Baluchi women in Iran and woodwork made by a Bahai prisoner who is jailed because of his religion.

 

Keejan Handmade Ceramics

Asma Najafi is the artist behind Keejan, which represents the key to the soul. She crafts handmade and unique objects fired with love. The journey began in Tehran in 2017 and continues in London. Mariam Tafsiri

Mariam Tafsiri is a British-Iranian illustrator and artist from London. Her work takes inspiration from Qajar art, Persian miniature paintings and Islamic design to create colourful and whimsical modern compositions. Her interest in Qajar art developed at an early age, drawn to the unibrowed women who represented a very different concept of beauty to that regularly portrayed in popular media. She has previously collaborated with companies such as Instagram, Kiehl’s and Barbican, creating Instagram’s first ever stickers to celebrate Nowruz. She will be selling A4 and A3 prints of her work. Mitra Freeman Art

Mitra is an Iranian/Welsh artist born in the UK and raised in Iran. Her work is inspired by Iranian art, culture and nostalgia. Focusing on vibrant Iranian colours and symbolism, she brings cultural motifs to life. Her work encompasses traditional embroidery, Lino art, digital art and mixed media work mainly reusing and recycling found objects and creating art from them. Living away from each of her homes at one point in her life, Mitra likes to emphasise the importance of taking our culture with us where ever we go. She believes that surrounding ourselves in our culture acts as a form of essential self care. Her work strives to bring a corner of Iran to people living in the absence of home. Mitra will be selling a range of her multi-media works including Lino prints and calendars, hand-stitched pomegranate and fig earrings, Iranian nostalgia stickers, Handmade mini Persian doors and more. Nogaam Publishing, founded in 2012 in London, is an independent award-winning publisher. Simorgh Football

Simorgh Football is an independent student-led group. Established during the 2022 World Cup, Simorgh Football provides an alternative football kit, for non profit, which represents classical Iranian iconography. The stall will have our home, white and black, and away, red and gold, kit available in multiple sizes.

 

Yaran Women's Club

Yaran Women's Club is a registered charity which provides support to women who suffer from mental health problems. Although we are an inclusive charity which welcomes women from all backgrounds, most of our members are Iranian women. We run activities like yoga and pottery in our club, and we are going to display the samples of our members pottery work which they are creating specially for Nowruz in our stall.
