Discover Northern Lines, an exhibition of work by artists Eileen Murray, Liz Bainbridge and John Read at Lauderdale House this March.
The artists describe their work as exploring "the immersive elemental relationship with land and sky. These shared themes that intersect the real, the remembered and the imagined between each artist. Marks that trace out these shared moments have been drawn through a collective gaze at nature. Each artist has been conscious of the dialogue that these paths of enquiry demand, meandering through intimate landscapes that embrace the human condition.
Bainbridge’s work operates between land and sky, sea and cloud. Read's drawings capture the very essence of the walked terrain. Murray’s work looks at ruins which make you stop enjoy the reverie of exploring a sense of another world that still exists in the present- Elegant and worn.
Working spontaneously with a limited colour palette we hope each piece of work increases the mood of time passing or slowing down."
