Justin Mullins' mathematical artwork
Overview
Opening Dates & Hours

Discover the complex elegance of mathematical photography by artist Justin Mullins in the Lower Gallery at Lauderdale House this April.

Mullins’ work records moments of profound significance – moments of life, love and death – using mathematics as a vehicle of emotional exchange. In the artist’s words, ‘In the same way that an ordinary photograph is a snapshot of natural beauty, a mathematical photograph is a snapshot of mathematical beauty. Or some other quality: elegance, power, ugliness and much more.’

This exhibition includes brief commentaries for each work to provide some background information on the mathematics and its relevance to the artist.
